Description
Allium 'Atropurpureum' is a dark and dramatic beauty that blooms in June with dense, dome-shaped flower heads in deep burgundy to nearly black-purple. Each star-shaped flower has a glossy, velvety texture and forms compact clusters about 7–10 cm wide, creating a striking contrast against lighter tones in the garden.
The sturdy, upright stems reach a height of around 60–70 cm, lifting the flowers above the fresh green foliage, which dies back during flowering. 'Atropurpureum' is especially striking when paired with pale perennials, silvery foliage, or ornamental grasses, where its rich color and defined form add depth and weight to the planting. A refined and atmospheric allium with graphic presence and botanical edge.
