Description
Allium 'Globemaster' is one of the most spectacular and beloved ornamental onions – a true star of the early summer garden. It blooms in May–June with enormous, globe-shaped flower heads in a rich violet hue, composed of densely packed, star-shaped florets. The flower spheres can reach an impressive 20–25 cm in diameter, making them among the largest in the allium world.
The stems grow to about 70–100 cm tall and are strong enough to support the massive blooms without bending. The foliage is broad and blue-green, typically fading back during flowering. 'Globemaster' is ideal for adding rhythm and structure to perennial borders, and its striking form retains decorative value long after blooming – even as a dried seed head. An iconic variety that combines grandeur with elegance.
