Allium 'Sphaerocephalon'

Allium 'Sphaerocephalon' is an elegant and slightly wild ornamental onion that flowers from June with compact, egg-shaped flower heads in deep wine red to purplish-red tones. The blooming begins at the top of the head and gradually moves downward, creating a dynamic play of colour throughout the flowering period. Its slender, flexible stems reach a height of 60–80 cm and sway gracefully in the wind, adding rhythm and movement to the border.

Sphaerocephalon is ideal for naturalistic plantings and pairs beautifully with grasses and late perennials, bringing structure and contrast without dominating the scene. A subtle yet indispensable classic for the late summer garden.
