Ranunculus 'Elegance® Cioccolato'

NOTE: This variety originates from our skilled breeder in Italy and is not frost-tolerant. Order now and plant in spring – or start it indoors or in a frost-free greenhouse over the winter. This gives a longer flowering season and blooms already from early spring.

Ranunculus 'Elegance Cioccolato' is a deeply sophisticated and unusual variety from the exclusive Italian Elegance series, known for its large, perfectly spiral-shaped blooms and rich colour tones. It flowers from mid-spring with densely double, silky-smooth blooms in an intense chocolate brown hue with warm chestnut tones and a subtle metallic sheen that shifts beautifully in the light.

The petals are tightly layered, forming a compact, rose-like flower with luxurious fullness and deep colour drama. The plant reaches around 30–40 cm in height and stands on strong stems, making it ideal both as a cut flower and as a dark, refined contrast in spring borders and containers.

For best results, we recommend soaking the ranunculus tubers in water for about 2 hours before planting.

Ranunculus are frost-sensitive and should be lifted in autumn before the frost arrives. The tubers must be stored frost-free and can be replanted the following year. Alternatively, they can remain in the ground and be covered with spruce branches, garden fleece or fallen leaves for protection. If planted in autumn, they should either be well covered or overwintered in a frost-free greenhouse.
